Emergency Boarding Up in Bracknell, 24 Hours a Day

If a window, door or shopfront has been broken and the property can’t safely be left open, call us now. Boarding Up Bracknell provides emergency boarding up across Bracknell, and a person answers the phone 24 hours a day. We attend at any hour, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Call 01344 951 955 and have your postcode ready. We’ll work out the arrival time from your postcode while you’re on the phone, and we’ll give you a free, clear quote before any work starts.

What to do while you wait for your emergency boarding up

These steps keep everyone safe until we arrive.

  • Stay clear of broken glass. Keep children and pets out of the room or away from the area. Don’t try to pull loose shards out of a frame, because they can drop or split without warning.
  • Don’t go into anything that looks unsafe. If a frame is sagging, a ceiling is damaged or there’s been a fire, stay outside. After a fire, the fire service must hand the site back before anyone can secure it.
  • Stay off ladders and roofs. If the damage is to a skylight or roof, leave it to us. Tell us what you can see safely from the ground.
  • After a break-in, report it to the police and keep the crime reference number. Contact your insurer as well.
  • Take photographs only if it’s safe. Wide shots and close-ups of the damage help your insurer, and they help us plan the job.

Out-of-hours boarding up: what we need from you on the call

When you call about out-of-hours boarding up in Bracknell, we’ll ask a few straightforward questions. Your answers tell us what to bring and what the job involves.

  1. Your postcode and full address, plus anything that helps us find the right entrance.
  2. What’s broken. For example, a single window, a back door that’s been forced, or a large shop window.
  3. The rough size of each opening. Estimates are fine.
  4. Height and access. Tell us whether the damage is on the ground floor, upstairs or at roof level. Mention side gates, rear access and where we can park.
  5. The state of any door or frame. Let us know if it still closes, whether the lock works and whether the frame is split.
  6. Safe photographs. If you can take them without getting close to the glass, email us. They help us confirm the scope and the quote.

We’ll then agree the work and the price with you on the phone, before anything is fixed in place.

What we secure in an emergency

Broken windows. This covers anything from a cracked pane to a fully smashed window. Urgent window boarding closes the opening against weather and entry. We cut the board to size and fix it across the opening.

Doors forced in a break-in. A door that won’t lock is often more urgent than a broken window. We board and secure damaged doors, frames and locks so the property can be closed up. Read more about securing doors after forced entry.

Shops, offices and commercial premises. A smashed shop window needs closing quickly, whether it’s on a pedestrianised parade like Braccan Walk or a frontage on Market Street, where shops and offices sit alongside flats. We also secure restaurants and warehouses. See shopfront and commercial boarding for how we approach larger glazing.

Roofs and skylights. We cover broken skylights and storm-damaged roof openings, working from proper access. We don’t expect anyone else to go up.

Empty properties. If a void property has been broken into, we board the windows and doors so it can’t be entered again.

What happens when we arrive

Our van carries boarding stock and fixings, so most openings can be measured, cut and fixed during the visit. We take time-stamped “before” photographs first.

For most windows and doors we use exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm. We use OSB for smaller openings where that’s suitable. We fix the board with security or anti-tamper fixings where the job calls for them. Where the frame is sound enough, we use a non-destructive fixing method, which keeps any extra damage to a minimum.

Sometimes a frame is too badly damaged to take a fixing safely. In that case we’ll stop, explain the options and agree the approach with you before going further. If loose glass or debris needs making safe, we’ll include it in the agreed work. When the job’s finished, we take “after” photographs.

Paperwork for your insurer

Once the job’s done, you’ll receive:

  • an itemised invoice
  • time-stamped before and after photographs
  • a written statement of the work carried out

Your insurer decides what is covered under your policy. We aren’t loss adjusters or legal advisers, but clear records make it easier for you to report what happened. There’s more detail in our guide to insurance claims after boarding up.

What affects the quote

We never put prices on the page, because every emergency is different. The quote you get on the call depends on:

  • the number and size of the openings
  • height and access, such as upper floors, roofs, skylights or ladder work
  • the materials and board thickness needed
  • the fixing method, including whether security or anti-tamper fixings are needed
  • whether a damaged door or frame needs securing first
  • any glass or debris to make safe

How we price boarding-up work explains these factors in more detail.

Boarding is the first step

Emergency boarding makes the property safe and secure for now. It gives you time to arrange the permanent repairs properly, such as new glazing or a replacement door, without rushing into a decision in the middle of the night.

Where we attend

We cover Bracknell, including the town centre, the original New Town neighbourhoods such as Easthampstead, older Victorian streets and newer estates. We also cover nearby Binfield and Warfield. We can also attend in Crowthorne, Ascot, Winkfield and Sandhurst, subject to confirming on the call. Give us the address and we’ll tell you straight away whether we can attend.
